QuickTime Filter for Audition - Write capabilities?

Postby monkey_nuts » Wed Feb 27, 2008 6:11 pm

First up, thanks to Jim for creating such an awesome set of Audition filters.

Now the whinging starts. How come the QuickTime filter only supports reading of files and not writing? I'm guessing this is because this filter is using the free version of QuickTime which only supports decoding. If I have a copy of QuickTime PRO available, would it be possible for me to modify this filter to support encoding/writing of file formats/codecs supported by QuickTime?

Specifically I'm interested in the reading and writing *.gsm and *.amr file formats (which QuickTime supports) for speech applications for which encoding/decoding tools are scarce (and poor).

Thanks!

I'm still not very familiar with the QuickTime framework, so getting anything working is sometimes a bit of a struggle. I did try a while ago to get it to output something other than uncompressed samples, but I could never get it to work. I guess having a Pro license might switch on some extra functionality, but I've not been tempted to splash out any cash yet ;)
